The Yoruba Union, a prominent socio-cultural organization known as Ìgbìnmó Májékóbájé Ilé-Yorùbá, has issued a stern ultimatum to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, demanding decisive action within seven days to address the escalating terrorist attacks ravaging communities in Kwara South.

In a statement signed by Convener Olusola Badero and Home Director Princess Balogun, the Union expressed grave concern over the deteriorating security situation, citing repeated incursions by armed Fulani herders that have left hundreds of residents displaced, kidnapped, or living in constant fear.

“Communities in Kwara South have become soft targets for these terrorists disguised as bandits,” the statement read. “The governor has not shown the political will to tackle the menace head-on.”

The Union accused Governor AbdulRazaq of neglecting the region, alleging that while he continues to receive monthly security votes from the Federal Government, there has been no transparent accounting of how these funds are being used to protect vulnerable communities.

The group further criticized the governor’s focus on Ilorin, the state capital, at the expense of other regions, warning that the abandonment of farmlands and ancestral homes could lead to a collapse of local economies and the erasure of Yoruba heritage in Kwara South.

“It is unacceptable that lives and properties in one part of Kwara are seen as less valuable than in another,” the Union stated.
