The Minister of Works and former Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi, has declared that all governors from Nigeria’s South-East region are unanimously backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office come 2027.

Speaking in a video shared on social media, Umahi emphasized that the governors of Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia, and Imo States are aligned with President Tinubu’s developmental vision and have resolved to support his re-election bid. “There’s no governor in the South-East that is not supporting the president,” Umahi stated.

Highlighting the region’s transformation under Tinubu’s administration, Umahi pointed to unprecedented federal infrastructure projects, including major road networks and bridges, as evidence of the president’s commitment to equitable development. “We never had it this good,” he said, referencing the federal presence now visible across the South-East.

Umahi also addressed the future of the presidency in Nigeria, asserting that when the time comes for the South-East to produce a president, his performance record positions him as a leading candidate. “When the presidency comes to the South-East, I should be at the forefront because of my performance,” he declared.

He urged the region to adopt a pragmatic approach to national politics, advocating for strategic alliances and rejecting emotional or sentimental tactics. “We can’t get to the presidency by sentiment. We have to re-engage; we have to support other regions,” Umahi advised.
