The Kogi State Government has condemned in strong terms the brutal killing of a photojournalist in the state, vowing to ensure that justice is served swiftly and decisively.

The deceased, whose work documented the stories and struggles of everyday Nigerians, was reportedly targeted and killed under circumstances that have sparked public outrage and grief across the country. In response, the state government has launched a full-scale investigation in collaboration with law enforcement agencies to uncover those responsible and bring them to book.

Speaking on behalf of the government, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the slain journalist, describing the act as “heinous, cowardly, and a direct attack on the freedom of the press.”

“No life should be lost in the pursuit of truth and public accountability,” the Governor said. “The Government of Kogi State is committed to ensuring that this tragic incident is not swept under the rug. We will pursue justice with every legal instrument at our disposal.”

He further assured media practitioners across the state of enhanced security measures and reiterated the administration’s commitment to protecting the fundamental rights of journalists and citizens alike.

The state government has also called on members of the public to assist with any information that could aid in the ongoing investigation.
