Former Kaduna State Governor and prominent political figure, Nasir El-Rufai, has voiced strong criticism of the current administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a recent interview, El-Rufai expressed deep concerns about the trajectory of the nation, accusing the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government of failing to uphold the founding ideals of the party.
El-Rufai, now a chieftain of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), highlighted several pressing issues, including worsening insecurity, economic decline, and perceived nepotism in government appointments. He stated, "Ever since the assumption of office of Tinubu as Nigeria’s president, the country has begun to go backwards. Insecurity has increased, the economy is dwindling, affluent people are now poor, and ethnic profiling is on the rise."
The former governor also criticized the administration for what he described as a betrayal of the APC's founding principles, emphasizing that the current state of governance is a far cry from the party's original vision of inclusivity and progress.
El-Rufai's remarks have sparked widespread debate across the political spectrum, with many Nigerians reflecting on the challenges facing the nation. His comments come at a time when the country is grappling with significant economic and social issues, raising questions about the direction of governance under the current administration.
