President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended heartfelt congratulations to Nigeria’s Super Falcons following their dramatic victory over Morocco to clinch a record-breaking 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.
In a statement issued by the Presidency, Tinubu hailed the team’s resilience, skill, and unwavering spirit, describing their comeback 3-2 win in Rabat as a “magnificent display of grit, talent, and the indomitable Nigerian spirit”.
“The Super Falcons’ spectacular performance tonight in Rabat, coming from behind to beat a spirited Moroccan side playing in front of a passionate home crowd, exemplifies the determination that defines the Nigerian spirit,” the President said.
He praised the team for representing Nigeria with pride and honor throughout the tournament, remaining unbeaten in the group stages and overcoming formidable opponents in the knockout rounds. The President also commended their sportsmanship, referencing their compassionate visit to an injured South African player after the semi-final match.
To underscore national support, President Tinubu dispatched a high-level delegation to Morocco, including the Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite; Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; and Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko.
