The Zamfara State Government has officially announced the appointment of a new Emir of Gusau, marking a significant moment in the traditional leadership structure of the state capital.
Governor Dauda Lawal made the announcement on Tuesday following the formal approval of the selection process conducted by the Gusau Emirate Council in accordance with customary and legal procedures. The newly appointed Emir, Alhaji Ibrahim Bello Danbaba, succeeds the late Emir, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar, who passed away earlier this year after decades of distinguished service to the people of Gusau and Zamfara State at large.
In his address at the State Government House in Gusau, Governor Lawal described the appointment as “a unifying decision grounded in tradition, wisdom, and community consensus.” He expressed confidence that the new Emir would promote peace, justice, and development in the state.
“This appointment reflects the collective will of the kingmakers and the people of Gusau. Alhaji Ibrahim Bello Danbaba has demonstrated great leadership capacity, humility, and a deep understanding of our cultural values,” the governor stated.
Alhaji Danbaba, 52, is a seasoned administrator and respected community leader. Prior to his appointment, he served in various advisory and traditional roles within the emirate and is known for his advocacy for education, youth empowerment, and interfaith harmony.
The new Emir is expected to be formally turbaned in a ceremony to be announced in the coming days, which will draw traditional rulers, government officials, and well-wishers from across the country.
The Zamfara State Government urges all citizens to support the new Emir and continue to uphold the spirit of unity and mutual respect that defines the state’s cultural heritage.
