Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has expressed deep anguish and heartbreak over the recent wave of brutal attacks that claimed the lives of dozens of innocent citizens in yet another round of violence on the Plateau.

Speaking during a solemn press briefing at the Government House in Jos, a visibly shaken Governor Mutfwang lamented: “I’ve been crying since yesterday. What has happened to our people is beyond tragic — it is inhuman and totally unacceptable.”

The fresh massacre, which occurred in parts of Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas over the weekend, saw armed assailants unleash coordinated assaults on defenseless communities, leaving scores dead and many more displaced. Preliminary reports indicate that over 40 lives were lost, homes set ablaze, and livelihoods destroyed in the brutal onslaught.

Governor Mutfwang condemned the attacks in the strongest terms, describing them as “calculated acts of terror aimed at tearing apart the fabric of our state.” He reiterated his administration’s commitment to securing Plateau communities and called on federal authorities to take immediate action.

“We cannot continue like this. We are tired of mass burials, tired of condolences. What we need is justice, security, and lasting peace. I call on the President, security chiefs, and all stakeholders to act now. Our people deserve to live without fear.”

The Governor also urged the international community, humanitarian organizations, and civil society groups to stand in solidarity with Plateau State, as the region continues to grapple with the aftermath of relentless violence.

In response to the tragedy, the Plateau State Government has activated emergency response mechanisms, including the deployment of relief materials to affected communities, and an immediate review of local security operations in collaboration with federal forces.
