In a shocking development that has rocked Delta State’s political and social circles, Shimite Bello, the Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Export Initiatives, has been confirmed dead under suspicious circumstances. Preliminary reports suggest the cause of death may be poisoning.

Bello, a widely respected technocrat and policy advocate, passed away on Sunday evening, prompting an immediate investigation by state authorities. The Delta State Police Command has since taken her husband, whose identity is currently withheld for legal reasons, into custody in connection with the incident.

According to a statement released by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, preliminary forensic evidence points to the possibility of poisoning. The case is now being treated as a homicide investigation, pending further toxicology reports and autopsy findings.

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori expressed his deep shock and sorrow at the news, describing Bello as “a visionary leader whose dedication to economic development and export expansion placed Delta State on the national map.” The Governor has called for a full and transparent investigation, emphasizing that “no stone will be left unturned in the pursuit of justice.”

Shimite Bello served as a key figure in driving the state’s non-oil export strategy and was known for her passion for youth empowerment and economic inclusivity. Her death marks a significant loss for the administration and the many communities she served.
