A tragic accident occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge early this morning, involving a newlywed couple and 16 other individuals. The accident, which took place at approximately 7:15 AM, left multiple victims with various degrees of injury, with emergency services rushing to the scene for immediate medical attention.


Reports indicate that a vehicle, which was carrying the newlywed couple, lost control after an apparent mechanical failure, colliding with several other cars. The crash caused significant damage, leaving 17 people injured, including the newlyweds who were on their way to their honeymoon. The driver of the vehicle is among the injured, though their condition remains stable.


Witnesses describe scenes of chaos and panic, with multiple vehicles involved in a chain reaction on the bridge. Traffic was severely impacted, causing delays for commuters throughout the morning.


First responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived promptly at the scene, working quickly to stabilize the injured and transport them to nearby hospitals. According to the latest update, all 17 victims have been transferred to medical facilities, where their conditions are being monitored closely.


"The situation is under control, and we are focused on providing medical care to those affected. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families," said a spokesperson for LASEMA. "We urge all road users to exercise caution and stay alert while traveling."
