Alma Asinobi, a 26-year-old Nigerian travel content creator, is on the brink of making history as she attempts to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the fastest journey across all seven continents. Dubbed #AlmaChasingContinents and #7in60, her ambitious endeavor seeks to complete the journey in under 60 hours, surpassing the current record of 73 hours.
Asinobi’s journey, which began on March 20, has taken her from the icy landscapes of Antarctica to the vibrant streets of Dubai, UAE. With just one continent left—Australia—she is poised to become the youngest and only Black solo traveler to achieve this feat. Her journey has captivated audiences worldwide, with supporters tracking her progress in real-time through a live location tracker.
Beyond the record-breaking attempt, Asinobi’s mission sheds light on the challenges faced by travelers from countries with low-mobility passports, such as Nigeria. Throughout her journey, she has encountered numerous visa and travel setbacks, including complex requirements, costly arrangements, and flight cancellations. These obstacles underscore the stark realities of passport inequality, a topic she has passionately addressed on her social media platforms.
“I just wanted to help someone out there with a low-mobility passport like mine dream beyond all the restrictions,” Asinobi shared during a challenging moment. “Even if I don’t break the record, I want to prove that limitations are not denials.”
Asinobi’s journey has sparked global conversations about the barriers faced by travelers from developing nations. Her advocacy for greater access and equity in international travel resonates deeply, inspiring countless individuals to pursue their dreams despite systemic challenges.
