The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba Egbetokun, has requested that the court revoke the bail granted to Abraham Daniel and several other individuals accused of defamation against prominent cleric, Pastor Paul Enenche. The call for the revocation follows new developments in the ongoing investigation.

Abraham Daniel, a kinsman of Pastor Paul Enenche, alongside others, stands accused of circulating defamatory statements that have significantly tarnished the reputation of the renowned pastor. The statements, alleged to be false and malicious, were reportedly shared on various social media platforms and public forums, igniting widespread controversy and damaging Pastor Enenche's public image.

The Inspector-General’s office has expressed serious concern over the continued spread of these defamatory materials and their potential to incite unrest. According to the IGP, the actions of the accused parties are not only harmful to the pastor but are also in direct violation of Nigeria's laws on defamation and libel.

In the official request to the court, the Inspector-General emphasized the need for stringent action to prevent further harm. He has called for the revocation of the bail granted to Daniel and others, suggesting that their release may undermine the seriousness of the charges against them and risk further public disturbance.

"The actions of these individuals have crossed the line into the realm of criminal defamation. We must uphold the law and protect the rights of individuals against such malicious attacks," stated IGP Egbetokun in a recent press briefing.

Pastor Paul Enenche, who has been a leading figure in Nigeria's religious and philanthropic communities, has not yet commented publicly on the developments. However, sources close to the pastor have expressed gratitude to the police for taking swift action to address the issue.
