The Edo State People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr. Ighodalo, has strongly condemned the shooting incident that occurred during the ongoing election tribunal proceedings in the state.

Mr. Ighodalo expressed deep concern over the violence that disrupted the legal process and threatened the safety of those in attendance. The incident, which occurred earlier this week, has drawn widespread condemnation from citizens and political observers alike, as it undermines the integrity of the judicial process and democratic norms.

In a statement issued today, Ighodalo called for a thorough investigation into the incident, urging security agencies to identify the perpetrators and hold them accountable for their actions. He stressed that the rule of law and peace must prevail throughout the election dispute resolution process, as citizens must have confidence in the justice system to address their concerns.

"I stand in solidarity with all those who believe in a peaceful, fair, and transparent electoral process. This act of violence is a clear attempt to intimidate and derail the judicial proceedings aimed at ensuring that the people’s will is upheld," Ighodalo stated. "We cannot allow such actions to set a dangerous precedent for our democracy. I call on the security forces and the relevant authorities to take swift action and ensure the safety of all involved in the tribunal."
