The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has officially barred Governor Peter Mbah from joining the party, citing his administration’s alleged failure to address persistent security challenges across the state. In a statement released today, the party leadership expressed strong disapproval of what it called “gross negligence” and “a consistent pattern of failed leadership” under Governor Mbah’s watch.
Addressing journalists after an emergency stakeholders’ meeting in Enugu, APC State Chairman Chief Ugochukwu Nwoye stated that the governor’s rumored defection plans were “dead on arrival,” emphasizing that the APC in Enugu State would not welcome individuals it believes are responsible for the deteriorating security landscape.
“The APC in Enugu is not a safe haven for failed leaders,” Chief Nwoye said. “Governor Mbah has failed to protect the lives and property of Ndi Enugu. Under his administration, we’ve witnessed an alarming rise in kidnappings, violent attacks, and lawlessness. Instead of addressing these issues, he’s been focused on political maneuvering.”
The APC also criticized what it described as the governor's “disconnect” from the suffering of the people, noting that key sectors such as rural security, community policing, and intelligence gathering have been neglected.
