President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has extended heartfelt congratulations to former President Donald Trump on his decisive victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election. In a message shared via his X account, Zelenskyy expressed optimism about the future of the Ukraine-U.S. relationship and emphasized the importance of a unified front against Russian aggression.


In his statement, Zelenskyy reflected on their previous discussions, particularly their meeting in September where they outlined a strategic partnership aimed at fostering peace and security in Ukraine. He highlighted the "Victory Plan" as a critical framework for collaboration between Ukraine and the United States.


Zelenskyy stated, “Congratulations to @realDonaldTrump on his impressive election victory! I recall our great meeting with President Trump back in September, when we discussed in detail the Ukraine-U.S. strategic partnership, the Victory Plan, and ways to put an end to Russian aggression against Ukraine.”


He praised Trump's commitment to a "peace through strength" approach in global affairs, asserting that this principle is essential for achieving lasting peace in Ukraine. “This is exactly the principle that can practically bring just peace in Ukraine closer. I am hopeful that we will put it into action together,” he added.


The Ukrainian President underscored the necessity for continued bipartisan support from the United States and expressed eagerness to develop mutually beneficial political and economic cooperation that would strengthen both nations. “We look forward to an era of a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership,” said Zelenskyy.
