In a coordinated effort to combat crime and drug trafficking, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) conducted a series of raids across Delta State, resulting in the arrest of numerous suspects.
The joint operation, which took place on October 6, 2024, targeted multiple locations known for criminal activities. The agencies successfully apprehended individuals involved in drug trafficking, financial crimes, and other illegal activities. The raids were carried out in response to intelligence reports and community complaints about the increasing rate of crime in the area.
According to the NDLEA spokesperson, Mr. Femi Babafemi, the operation was a significant success, with a substantial amount of illicit drugs and contraband seized. “This operation is part of our ongoing efforts to rid Delta State of drug-related crimes and ensure the safety and security of our communities,” said Babafemi.
The EFCC also reported the confiscation of various assets linked to financial crimes, including luxury vehicles, properties, and large sums of money. The EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, emphasized the importance of such collaborative efforts in tackling the complex nature of financial crimes. “Our partnership with the NDLEA and other security agencies is crucial in our fight against corruption and financial crimes,” Bawa stated.
The suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations. The agencies have assured the public that they remain committed to upholding the rule of law and protecting the citizens of Delta State.
