In a deeply reflective moment during the fourth day of the Redeemed Christian Church of God’s (RCCG) International Convention themed “The Overcomers”, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, General Overseer of RCCG, restated a personal vision he has held for years: that his departure from this world will be peaceful, painless, and divinely timed.

“I will die on a Sunday after attending service, eat my beloved pounded yam, and then pass on without any sickness,” Pastor Adeboye declared to a congregation of thousands, reaffirming a prophecy he first shared two years ago.

The revered cleric emphasized that death need not be feared or associated with suffering. Instead, he offered a vision of transition marked by serenity and spiritual fulfillment. “Death does not always come through prolonged illness,” he said. “For those in Christ, it can be sudden, joyful, and without pain.”

Delivering a sermon titled “Possess Your Possessions”, Pastor Adeboye urged believers to actively claim what is rightfully theirs in Christ. Drawing from the biblical story of the Israelites and the Promised Land, he reminded worshippers that spiritual blessings—such as healing, prosperity, fruitfulness, and long life—often require spiritual resistance.

“Your greatest friend, Jesus Christ, paid a great price to purchase your healing. Yet there is a thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy,” he said, referencing John 10:10.

He challenged Christians to reject spiritual oppression and embrace the fullness of their divine inheritance, declaring: “Stop tolerating sickness, poverty, barrenness, or premature death. Fight to possess your possessions—it’s your spiritual duty.”

Pastor Adeboye’s message comes amid RCCG’s 73rd Annual Convention, which has drawn millions of worshippers from across Nigeria and beyond. The convention has also seen the ordination of over 15,000 new ministers, further expanding the church’s global reach and spiritual impact.
