Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has publicly disclosed that the Nigerian women’s national football team has yet to receive the financial and housing rewards promised by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following their historic victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

In a candid interview with broadcaster Chude Jideonwo, Ajibade stated: “We have not received our money, but hopefully it will be paid. They have not paid all the promises. We have not received anything.”

Ajibade, who was named Player of the Tournament, led the Super Falcons to a dramatic comeback in the final, overturning a 2–0 halftime deficit to secure Nigeria’s record-extending 10th WAFCON title. The campaign, dubbed “Mission X,” was hailed as a triumph of resilience and national pride.

Despite the delay, Ajibade expressed hope that the administration would eventually honor its commitments. “We’re still optimistic. We believe the government will do the right thing,” she added.

The revelation has sparked renewed public interest and concern over the treatment of national athletes and the fulfillment of government promises. Fans and stakeholders are calling for transparency and swift action to ensure the team receives the recognition and rewards they earned on the continental stage.
