The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has confirmed the existence of internal frictions and unhealthy rivalries among certain Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), which it says have hindered smooth governance and public service delivery. In a strong move to restore order, the Presidency has vowed to impose decisive sanctions on erring officials and agencies found guilty of undermining national cohesion and inter-agency collaboration.

Speaking at a high-level policy dialogue held in Abuja on Monday, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, acknowledged growing concerns about administrative bottlenecks caused by turf wars, overlapping mandates, and public disagreements between federal bodies.

"We are aware of the unfortunate reports of internal bickering among some agencies of government. Let it be known that this administration will not condone any conduct that disrupts the synergy required for effective governance," Akume said.

He emphasized that President Tinubu has directed a comprehensive review of inter-agency protocols to ensure better coordination, accountability, and discipline across all federal institutions.

"The President is committed to a results-driven government. Any official or agency found frustrating national objectives through ego battles or deliberate sabotage will face sanctions, including possible dismissal, suspension, or legal proceedings," the SGF warned.

Recent weeks have witnessed tension among key agencies, particularly in the economic and security sectors, with conflicting directives and contradictory public statements raising concerns about coherence within the government. Analysts and civil society groups have called for urgent measures to address the growing disunity, which they say threatens policy implementation and public trust.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, also weighed in, stating that a circular will soon be issued from the Office of the Head of Service to streamline communication procedures and operational boundaries among MDAs.

"The Nigerian people deserve a government that speaks with one voice, acts with purpose, and serves with unity. The days of finger-pointing and blame-shifting among agencies are over," Idris stated.

The Tinubu administration, which came to power on a platform of renewed hope and institutional reform, reiterated that discipline, order, and professionalism remain non-negotiable values in the conduct of government business.
