Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on Ukraine’s allies to intensify efforts to counter what he described as ongoing “Russian deception,” as diplomatic momentum builds ahead of critical talks in Berlin with European leaders and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Speaking ahead of the summit, Zelenskyy emphasized the need for coordinated pressure on Russia to end its invasion of Ukraine. “Pressure must be exerted on Russia for the sake of a fair peace,” Zelenskyy stated on social media. “We must learn from the experience of Ukraine and our partners to prevent deception on the part of Russia.”
The Berlin meeting comes amid renewed Russian military activity in eastern Donetsk, where Kremlin forces have made limited advances near the mining hub of Dobropillia. Despite these developments, Zelenskyy reaffirmed that territorial concessions are not on the table. “There are currently no signs that the Russians are preparing to end the war,” he added.
Zelenskyy and his delegation have engaged in over 30 conversations with global leaders and senior officials in preparation for the summit. The Ukrainian president is expected to advocate for stronger sanctions against Russia and a unified diplomatic stance that prioritizes Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
