The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has formally disassociated itself from former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, declaring that he is not a registered member of the party and has no authority to speak or act on its behalf.

At a press briefing held in Kaduna, the SDP North-West Zonal Secretary, Alhaji Idris Inuwa, expressed deep concern over El-Rufai’s recent appearances at policy dialogues and political gatherings where he allegedly presented himself as a representative of the SDP.

“Let this be made unequivocally clear: Malam El-Rufai is not authorised, mandated, or recognised by the SDP in any capacity,” Inuwa stated.

The party emphasized that El-Rufai’s name does not appear in any official membership records, nor has he ever participated in SDP programs or received any appointment from the national leadership. The SDP reaffirmed its leadership under Acting National Chairman Dr. Sadiq Umar, National Secretary Chief Olu Agunloye, and 2023 Presidential Candidate Prince Adewole Adebayo.

In addition to disowning El-Rufai, the party passed a vote of no confidence in him and called for the immediate suspension of Dr. Umar Ardo, accusing him of using the SDP platform to promote a new political group, the African Democratic Assembly (ADA).

“Any further impersonation will compel the NEC to convene a special committee to investigate and expose these misdeeds,” Inuwa warned.

The SDP urged the public, media outlets, and political stakeholders to disregard any statements or representations made by El-Rufai under the party’s banner, stressing that all official communications must come from recognised and endorsed party officials.
