The Nigerian Police Force, Enugu State Command, has successfully apprehended a dismissed soldier and seven other suspects involved in a series of criminal activities, including armed robbery and fraud. The arrests, which were made in the early hours of December 6, 2024, follow a thorough investigation and intelligence-gathering operation led by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

Among the arrested individuals is a former soldier, who had been dismissed from military service for prior misconduct. The suspects were involved in multiple cases of robbery and fraudulent schemes, targeting unsuspecting victims in the region. Investigations reveal that the gang had been operating across various parts of Enugu, using both violent and deceptive methods to carry out their crimes.

The police were able to trace the gang's operations through detailed intelligence work and surveillance, leading to their swift arrest. Items recovered from the suspects include firearms, stolen property, and fraudulent documents used in scamming victims.

In a statement issued by the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Chuka Nwodo, the police force reiterated its commitment to combating criminal activities across the state. "We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that law and order are maintained in Enugu. These criminals will face the full extent of the law, and we urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities," SP Nwodo said.

The suspects have been charged with armed robbery, fraud, and conspiracy, and are expected to appear in court for further prosecution. The police have also assured residents that efforts are underway to dismantle the criminal network and prevent future incidents.
