The Kano State Government has ordered an immediate investigation into allegations surrounding the involvement of a serving commissioner in the controversial bail of a suspected drug baron.
This directive follows widespread public concern and media reports suggesting that a senior government official may have played a questionable role in facilitating the release of a known narcotics suspect currently under legal scrutiny. The individual, whose identity is being withheld pending further inquiry, was granted bail under circumstances now drawing intense public interest.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, the administration reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy towards criminality and any association with illicit drug activity. The statement emphasized that no official, regardless of rank, will be shielded from due process if found culpable.
“The Government of Kano State remains committed to upholding the rule of law, transparency, and accountability. An impartial panel has been tasked with thoroughly examining the circumstances surrounding the case. The outcome of this probe will determine the next course of action,” the statement read.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has assured citizens that the government will cooperate fully with law enforcement and anti-narcotics agencies, including the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), to ensure justice is served.
