The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, has issued a directive compelling the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to produce five retired senior police officers for arraignment over serious allegations of age falsification, conspiracy, and document forgery.

Presiding Judge, Justice Halilu Yusuf, gave the order on Tuesday, July 8, following the failure of the accused to appear in court despite being duly served with the charges. The court emphasized the responsibility of the prosecution to ensure the presence of the defendants at the next hearing, scheduled for September 25, 2025.

The charges, filed under suit number CR/353/2025, allege that the officers conspired to falsify their ages and service records in order to unlawfully extend their tenure in the Nigeria Police Force.

Prosecuting counsel, Rimamsomte Ezekiel, informed the court that all defendants had been served with the charges but failed to appear. He requested an adjournment to facilitate their production for arraignment.

This case marks a significant moment in the ongoing efforts to uphold integrity and accountability within Nigeria’s law enforcement institutions. The Nigeria Police Force and the PSC have previously taken disciplinary actions, including compulsory retirements, against officers implicated in similar misconduct.
