The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the minimum cut-off marks for admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Following a high-level policy meeting held today with stakeholders in the education sector, JAMB revealed that the minimum Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scores required for consideration into institutions are as follows: Universities: 150, Polytechnics: 100, Colleges of Education: 100, Colleges of Nursing Sciences: 140
According to the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the decision reflects a balanced approach to promoting inclusiveness while upholding academic standards. "These scores are not the sole criteria for admission," he stated. "Institutions are still free to set their own benchmarks above these minimums based on their individual requirements and programs."
This announcement is expected to guide institutions in the 2025/2026 admission process and offer clarity to the millions of candidates who sat for the recent UTME. Stakeholders are encouraged to ensure transparency and fairness in their post-UTME and screening exercises.
JAMB also reiterated its commitment to providing a level playing field for all candidates and maintaining integrity in Nigeria's tertiary admissions process.
