48-Year-Old Teacher Found Dead Inside Classroom at King’s College, Lagos

The management of King’s College, Lagos, confirms with deep sorrow the tragic death of a staff member, Mr. Ezekiel Akano, aged 48, who was found unresponsive in one of the school’s classrooms on the evening of Saturday, July 26, 2025.








According to reports, the discovery was made by fellow staff members who alerted the Vice Principal, Mr. Oguniyi Ayodele, leading to immediate contact with the Lagos State Police Command. Emergency services and detectives arrived promptly at the scene, where the teacher was found lifeless, with no signs of physical injury or foul play observed.








Mr. Akano, a native of Oyo State and a respected educator at the college, was transported to Lagos Island General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by attending medical personnel. His body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for a full autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.









The Lagos State Police Command has launched a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. School authorities have pledged full cooperation and transparency with law enforcement and have taken measures to preserve the integrity of the investigation.










In light of this tragic event, King’s College has mobilized counseling and psychological support services for students and staff who may be affected by the sudden loss. The school community is urged to remain calm and respectful of the privacy of the late teacher’s family during this difficult time.









“Mr. Ezekiel Akano was a dedicated educator whose contribution to the intellectual and moral development of our students will not be forgotten. We are deeply saddened by his sudden passing and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and all who knew him,” the school’s Principal said.
