The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally petitioned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, over alleged harassment and unlawful detention of its members by operatives of the Osun State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps.
In a statement released by the party leadership, the APC accused Amotekun operatives of targeting its members in Atakumosa East Local Government Area, claiming that several individuals were unlawfully arrested and detained without justification. The party described the alleged actions as politically motivated and an attempt to intimidate opposition voices in the state.
“We strongly condemn the harassment and detention of our members by Amotekun operatives. These actions are unacceptable and undermine the democratic principles of fairness and justice,” the statement read.
The APC leadership further stated that it has submitted a formal petition to the Inspector General of Police, urging an immediate investigation into the matter and calling for the protection of its members from undue persecution.
However, in response to the allegations, the Osun Amotekun Corps has denied any involvement in the alleged arrests, describing the claims as false and misleading. The security outfit emphasized that its operations remain non-partisan and focused solely on ensuring the safety and security of all residents of Osun State.
