Human rights activist and convener of the RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, has called on Nigerians to use the Easter season as a moment of reflection and renewed resolve to resist political oppression and demand justice, equity, and good governance.

In a powerful Easter message to the nation, Sowore urged citizens not to lose hope in the face of persistent hardship, corruption, and authoritarian leadership. He emphasized that the resurrection of Christ represents triumph over darkness and injustice — a symbol he believes should inspire Nigerians to rise against those who continue to stifle freedom, exploit the masses, and enrich themselves at the expense of the nation.

“This Easter, as we commemorate the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we must also embrace the spirit of courage and sacrifice in our struggle against corrupt political overlords who thrive on our silence and submission,” Sowore stated. “Nigeria cannot move forward unless her people rise to challenge those who rule without empathy, transparency, or accountability.”

He noted that the Easter celebration should not be reduced to religious rituals and festivities, but rather serve as a rallying point for action, unity, and truth. Sowore reaffirmed his commitment to a Nigeria where power belongs to the people, and called on youth, workers, and activists to organize and demand systemic change across all levels of government.

“The message of Easter is not only spiritual. It is deeply political — about the defeat of tyranny and the restoration of hope. We must resist with our voices, our votes, and our vigilance,” he said.
