Former Governor of Abia State and current Senator, Theodore Orji, has issued a strong response to comments made by his successor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu. The remarks, which have sparked widespread discussion, were made during an event in Abuja where Dr. Ikpeazu described leaders who criticize their predecessors as "lazy leaders" and claimed he inherited a "gloomy state" in 2015.
In a statement released through his former Liaison Officer and Senior Aide, Hon. Ifeanyi Umere, Senator Orji, popularly known as Ochendo Global, urged Dr. Ikpeazu to "carry his cross" and take responsibility for his tenure as governor. Senator Orji criticized the apparent contradiction in Dr. Ikpeazu's remarks, noting that while he condemned leaders who criticize their predecessors, he simultaneously criticized his own.
"Governance is not about making speeches," Senator Orji stated. "It is about taking responsibility for one's actions and inactions. Dr. Ikpeazu should focus on addressing his own record rather than shifting blame."
The exchange has drawn attention to the broader issue of accountability in governance, with many observers calling for a focus on constructive dialogue and solutions rather than public disputes.
