The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Umo Eno, has stated that the Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state have no excuse not to execute development projects. During a recent meeting with local government chairmen, Governor Eno emphasized that the resources and support required for successful project execution are readily available, and it is now up to the LGAs to step up and deliver on their responsibilities to their communities.

Governor Eno pointed out that his administration has made substantial strides in creating a conducive environment for development, ensuring that funding, infrastructure, and technical assistance are accessible for local governments. However, he expressed concerns that some LGAs are still lagging in fulfilling their mandates.

“In line with our vision for a prosperous Akwa Ibom, local governments must take full advantage of the resources at their disposal. We have provided adequate funding, capacity building, and the necessary tools for you to succeed. There is no reason why projects cannot be executed at the local government level,” Governor Eno remarked.

The Governor further emphasized that local government chairmen are pivotal in driving sustainable development in their areas, urging them to take ownership of projects that directly impact their communities. He also reiterated the need for effective planning, transparency, and accountability in the execution of public projects.

Governor Eno’s administration continues to place a high priority on local governance and has pledged to support the local governments in ensuring that they are better equipped to carry out projects that improve the lives of citizens in Akwa Ibom.
