The Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed the tragic loss of one police officer, four Community Protection Guards (CPG) members, and two hunters during a fierce battle with bandits in Keta village, Tsafe Local Government Area. The incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, March 28, 2025.
According to a statement released by the Command's spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, the attack began when a large group of armed bandits stormed Keta village with the intent to harm residents. In response, a joint security operation comprising the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), hunters, and CPG members was swiftly mobilized to repel the attack.
During the intense gunfight, several bandits were neutralized, including a notorious bandit leader, Dan Isihu Mudale, who had been terrorizing Tsafe and its environs. Despite the successful operation, the Command deeply regrets the loss of its personnel and partners who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Two hunters who sustained serious injuries are currently receiving medical treatment at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Gusau. DSP Abubakar reassured residents that the Police Command remains committed to restoring peace and security in Zamfara State. He urged citizens to report any suspicious activities to security agencies for prompt action.
