The Super Eagles of Nigeria secured a commanding 2-0 victory over Rwanda’s Amavubi in a FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday. However, head coach Eric Chelle has emphasized the need for further improvement as the team prepares for their next challenge.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Coach Chelle expressed pride in his players' performance but stressed that the journey is far from over. "It was a difficult game because Rwanda is a strong side. I am happy with the win and proud of my players, but we still have areas to improve," Chelle remarked.

The victory, which came courtesy of a first-half brace by star striker Victor Osimhen, marked a significant milestone for the Super Eagles. Yet, Chelle highlighted the importance of refining tactics and addressing weaknesses ahead of their upcoming match against Zimbabwe in Uyo on Tuesday, March 25.

"We worked hard in the last week, focusing on tactical preparations and video analysis. While the win is a step in the right direction, we must continue to build on our strengths and address our weaknesses," Chelle added.

The Super Eagles currently sit fourth in Group C with six points, trailing group leaders South Africa. With four matches remaining in the qualifiers, the team is determined to secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
