The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has successfully intercepted a container truck loaded with a staggering 70,000 litres of stolen petroleum in Rivers State. The illicit fuel was being transported illegally when NSCDC operatives, in a coordinated operation, seized the truck and arrested the suspects involved.

The operation, which took place along a major route in Rivers, was a part of the NSCDC’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on illegal oil activities in the region. The seized petroleum, valued at millions of naira, is believed to have been siphoned from illegal refineries operating in the area.

NSCDC spokesperson, Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) John Ogar, confirmed the arrest and commended the prompt action taken by officers in preventing the illicit trade of petroleum. “This seizure demonstrates the NSCDC’s commitment to fighting the menace of oil theft and other criminal activities that harm the nation’s economy and environment,” he stated.

The container truck, which was flagged by NSCDC intelligence officers, had been under surveillance for several days prior to its interception. The operation is part of the NSCDC’s larger strategy to dismantle the illegal oil syndicates in Rivers State and other oil-rich regions in the country.
