As Muslims across Nigeria join in the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors have called on all Nigerians to embrace peace, unity, and harmony in the spirit of the occasion. The governors emphasized the importance of peaceful co-existence as the foundation for building a prosperous and inclusive nation.

In a joint statement issued by the PDP Governors’ Forum, the governors expressed their deep commitment to fostering unity, tolerance, and understanding among all citizens, irrespective of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.

“The celebration of Eid-el-Fitr is not only a time for religious reflection and gratitude but also an opportunity to reinforce the values of peace, compassion, and solidarity. As we mark the end of Ramadan, we urge Nigerians to renew their commitment to living together peacefully and harmoniously, transcending our differences and focusing on the common good of the nation,” the statement read.

The PDP Governors further highlighted that the diversity of Nigeria, spanning various cultures, religions, and traditions, should be celebrated rather than used as a source of division. They called on all Nigerians, both leaders and citizens, to redouble their efforts towards promoting social cohesion and national unity.

“We must recognize that our strength lies in our diversity. It is through peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and collaboration that we can overcome challenges and build a country that guarantees equality, justice, and prosperity for all,” the statement continued.

The governors also extended their warm wishes to all Muslims in Nigeria and around the world, praying for peace, prosperity, and good health in the coming months. They reaffirmed their dedication to ensuring that the welfare and well-being of all Nigerians remain the top priority of their governance.
