The United Kingdom has announced that no agreement has been reached on a proposed partial truce plan for Ukraine. This statement comes in response to recent comments made by French President Emmanuel Macron, who suggested that London and Paris were proposing a one-month truce in Ukraine covering air, sea, and energy infrastructure.

UK Armed Forces Minister Luke Pollard clarified the situation, stating, "No agreement has been made on what a truce looks like. However, we are working together with France and our European allies to explore the path to creating a lasting and durable peace in Ukraine." Pollard emphasized the ongoing cooperation with European partners to establish a framework for peace.

A UK government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, also played down any agreement, noting that various options are still on the table and subject to further discussions with the US and European partners. The official reiterated that a one-month truce has not been agreed upon.

The comments from President Macron followed crisis talks convened by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in central London. The talks included European leaders, NATO chief Mark Rutte, and representatives from Canada. A Downing Street spokesperson highlighted the progress made during the summit, stating, "We need and want to progress with momentum, and we are pleased that today's summit has enabled discussions to move forward. Those discussions will continue at pace."
