Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, the former Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general election, has officially announced his resignation from the party. The announcement was made during a press briefing held at Liberty Place in Ikeja, Lagos.
Jandor cited widespread indiscipline and anti-party activities within the PDP as the primary reasons for his departure. He expressed his disappointment with the actions of certain party leaders, including former Deputy National Chairman Chief Olabode George, whom he accused of working against the party during the 2023 elections.
Accompanied by a large group of supporters, Jandor stated, "We will consult widely with everybody and then take the decision to collapse our structure to another platform. What is the majority on the ground now is that we have left the Peoples Democratic Party.”
Before joining the PDP in January 2022, Jandor was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and led the Lagos4Lagos Movement, which aimed to promote internal democracy within the party. He secured the PDP's gubernatorial nomination for the 2023 elections, where he finished third behind the incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the APC and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party (LP).
Jandor has not yet disclosed his next political move but assured that he would consult widely before making any decisions. "We will consult widely with everybody and then take the decision to collapse our structure to another platform," he reiterated.
