In a powerful statement today, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep concern over Nigeria's historical mismanagement of its national wealth, which he claims has led to the squandering of the resources meant for the future generations of Nigerians. Speaking during a national address, the President emphasized that for the past 50 years, Nigeria’s wealth has been wasted due to poor governance, corruption, and inefficient use of the country's abundant resources.

"For decades, we have watched as successive administrations failed to manage Nigeria's vast natural resources. What should have been a solid foundation for future prosperity has been misused, leading to a national debt crisis, widespread poverty, and an economy that has failed to reach its full potential," said President Tinubu.

The President’s remarks come as part of a larger effort to acknowledge the challenges faced by the nation and inspire transformative change. Tinubu urged Nigerians to focus on rebuilding the country’s economic foundations through fiscal responsibility, transparency, and innovative governance practices.

"Now is the time for us to turn the page. We must no longer look back in regret, but instead, look ahead with determination. It is our responsibility to correct the mistakes of the past, reinvest in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and industries that will secure the future for the next generations," he stated.

The President outlined his administration’s commitment to prudent management of national resources, bolstering economic diversification, and ensuring that future policies create sustainable wealth and opportunities for every Nigerian.

"We will make sure that every resource, every dollar, and every naira works for the future of our children and grandchildren. No longer will we allow the wealth of this great nation to be frittered away," President Tinubu affirmed.
