The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kaduna State has today formally dismissed the claim of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai regarding his membership of the party, stating that there is no record of his registration as a member.

In a statement issued by the State Executive Committee, the party emphasized that thorough checks of their membership records revealed no evidence of El-Rufai’s affiliation with the SDP at any level. The party further clarified that El-Rufai’s name does not appear in their official register, contrary to claims suggesting otherwise.

“We are committed to transparency and integrity in our party's operations, and our membership records are open for verification,” said the State Chairman of the SDP, Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed. “After careful investigation, we can confirm that no such registration exists for Nasir El-Rufai. Any claims of his membership are entirely unfounded.”

The statement also pointed out that the former Governor, who was once a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had not officially joined the SDP nor participated in any of the party’s activities in Kaduna State. The party leadership emphasized that its doors remain open to all Nigerians who are committed to democratic values and good governance but reiterated that any claims of affiliation must be substantiated by official records.

“We urge the public to disregard any misleading information and focus on the real issues facing the people of Kaduna State,” Mohammed continued. “The SDP remains dedicated to building a better future for our citizens through genuine leadership and accountability.”
