A recent YouGov poll has highlighted that only one in seven Britons believe Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch possesses the qualities necessary to be a prime minister. This comes as she marks her first 100 days at the helm of the party, during which time she has faced significant challenges and scrutiny.
Just 14% of respondents view Badenoch as prime ministerial material, while a majority (55%) do not see her in this light.
Even among Conservative supporters, nearly half (48%) do not perceive Badenoch as a potential prime minister, compared to 26% who do.
The public is divided on Badenoch's attributes; more people find her untrustworthy (39%) than trustworthy (19%), and dislikeable (39%) rather than likeable (24%).
Badenoch inherited a party facing internal divisions and external pressures from Reform UK. Despite efforts to renew the party's image, opinion polls have shown consistent third-place finishes for the Conservatives this year. The leadership faces calls for change from within its own ranks.
