Dangote Refinery, one of the largest integrated refineries in the world, has announced that it is currently operating at 85% of its total production capacity. The management of Dangote Refinery confirmed that the refinery is on track to achieve full operational capacity within the next 30 days, marking a significant milestone in the company's ongoing efforts to revolutionize Nigeria's oil and gas industry.
The refinery, located in the Lekki Free Trade Zone in Lagos State, is designed to process 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day. With the recent increase in production, Dangote Refinery is well on its way to becoming a critical player in both the Nigerian and global oil markets. The company's management stated that this achievement is the result of rigorous testing, optimization, and dedication from the highly skilled technical and operational teams.
“We are pleased to announce that Dangote Refinery is now operating at 85% of its installed capacity. Our team has worked tirelessly to reach this point, and we are on track to achieve full production within the next 30 days. This is an exciting time for the refinery and for Nigeria, as the refinery’s full operations will significantly reduce the country’s reliance on imported refined petroleum products and create numerous economic opportunities,” said Aliko Dangote, the Group President and CEO of Dangote Industries Limited.
The refinery’s ability to process crude oil locally is expected to not only meet the growing demand for petroleum products in Nigeria but also improve Nigeria’s balance of trade, generate thousands of jobs, and contribute to the country’s energy security. Additionally, Dangote Refinery is set to produce a wide range of products, including petrol, diesel, jet fuel, and polypropylene, which will help address the country's domestic fuel shortages and reduce fuel imports.
As part of the company’s commitment to sustainability, the Dangote Refinery has incorporated cutting-edge technologies to minimize environmental impact and ensure operational safety. This includes systems designed to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency, supporting Nigeria's broader efforts to tackle climate change.
The management further emphasized that the achievement of full capacity will be a game-changer for Nigeria's industrial landscape and will provide a much-needed boost to the nation’s economic growth.
"We are proud of this progress, and we are confident that the full operation of Dangote Refinery will play a transformative role in Nigeria's energy sector, creating a new era of self-sufficiency in petroleum production," added Dangote.
