The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Musa A. Mohammed, has today ordered a comprehensive investigation into the mysterious disappearance of a corpse from a military hospital in Delta State. The missing body was reportedly under the care of hospital staff following a recent death, raising concerns over potential breaches in security and standard protocols.
The incident was first reported earlier this week when hospital personnel discovered that the body of a deceased individual was no longer in the designated morgue. An initial inquiry by hospital officials failed to provide any clear answers, prompting the CNS to step in with an order for a formal probe.
Vice Admiral Mohammed emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability, stating, "The circumstances surrounding this case must be thoroughly investigated to ensure that all protocols were followed and that justice is served. The Navy holds its duty of care in high regard, and such incidents are taken very seriously."
The investigation will be carried out in collaboration with local authorities, forensic experts, and military officials, with the goal of determining the cause of the disappearance and holding accountable any individuals found to have violated protocol.
“We are committed to ensuring that all personnel adhere to the highest standards of professionalism, especially when dealing with sensitive matters involving the deceased,” added Vice Admiral Mohammed.
