The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has called on politicians from Northern Nigeria to set aside their 2027 presidential ambitions in the interest of national unity and the party's long-term growth. Ganduje made the appeal during a meeting with APC stakeholders in Abuja, where he emphasized the importance of strengthening the party and supporting the current administration to build a stronger, more unified nation.
Dr. Ganduje acknowledged the political aspirations of many Northern politicians but urged them to prioritize the collective interests of Nigeria and the APC, particularly in the wake of the recent 2023 general elections. He emphasized that unity within the party and the broader political landscape should take precedence over personal ambitions.
"In the interest of national progress and unity, I urge my esteemed colleagues from the North to consider stepping back from their ambitions for the 2027 presidential race," Ganduje said. "We must consolidate our victories, focus on governance, and work together for the future of Nigeria. Let us create an environment where the APC can build on its successes and deliver on the promises made to the people."
The APC National Chairman stressed that Northern politicians should contribute to strengthening the APC as a political platform that represents the interests of all Nigerians, not just one region. He also highlighted the party's commitment to addressing the socio-economic challenges facing the country, including poverty, insecurity, and infrastructure development.
