The Abia State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the suspension of its Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, for publicly endorsing Governor Alex Otti's bid for a second term in office. This suspension comes after a series of internal discussions and concerns raised within the party regarding Senator Wabara's actions.
In a statement released by the party's leadership, it was made clear that Wabara's endorsement of Governor Otti’s re-election was in violation of the party's policies and position. The PDP emphasized that any action that contradicts the party's collective interest and direction, particularly endorsements outside the party’s framework, would not be tolerated.
“The actions of Senator Wabara have caused unnecessary division within our ranks and compromised the unity of the party. As a leader within the PDP, Wabara's endorsement of an opposing candidate, Governor Alex Otti, in the upcoming elections is a direct contradiction of the party's interests. Therefore, we have been left with no choice but to suspend him from his position as the BOT Chairman,” the statement read.
The party also expressed its commitment to maintaining discipline within the PDP, ensuring that all members align with its values and decisions. In addition, the suspension aims to send a strong message to all party members regarding the importance of unity and loyalty in the face of upcoming elections.
