A major accident on the iconic Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos was successfully managed this morning, with 14 persons rescued from the scene. The accident, which occurred during peak morning hours, involved multiple vehicles, leading to significant traffic congestion and concerns about the safety of those involved.

The swift and coordinated response of emergency services, including the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), ensured that all 14 individuals were rescued and provided with immediate medical care. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, though several people sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

The incident caused heavy traffic delays in both directions as emergency responders worked tirelessly to clear the wreckage and transport the injured to nearby hospitals. Authorities have assured the public that the situation is under control and urged commuters to exercise patience while the area is being cleared.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, expressed his gratitude to the emergency teams for their swift action and reassured residents that efforts are being made to prevent such incidents in the future. He also called on all drivers to exercise caution, particularly during peak hours when traffic on the Third Mainland Bridge tends to be heavy.

"The safety of our citizens remains a top priority, and we will continue to ensure that proper measures are in place to handle emergencies efficiently," Governor Sanwo-Olu stated. "We urge drivers to stay alert and follow traffic regulations to avoid accidents."
