The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land allocations of several prominent political figures and public officeholders, including Governors Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, and 564 other individuals.
The revocation comes as part of a sweeping measure to address irregularities and abuses of land allocation in Abuja. The FCT Ministry has identified that these land deals, many of which were made without due process or proper authorization, have led to significant disruptions in urban planning and land management across the nation's capital.
Minister Wike stated, "This action is a critical step toward ensuring that land use within the Federal Capital Territory remains in line with the city’s master plan and prioritizes the needs of ordinary Nigerians. We are committed to enforcing fairness, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of land administration."
The list of individuals affected by the revocation also includes high-ranking government officials, businesspersons, and former public officeholders who have been found to have violated allocation guidelines or failed to fulfill their land development obligations.
The Ministry has issued directives for the immediate withdrawal of all land titles associated with the revocations and is collaborating with security agencies to ensure that affected individuals comply with the decision.
Wike reiterated that this is just the beginning of a broader reform process aimed at sanitizing land management in Abuja and restoring order to the allocation system. He emphasized that further investigations would be conducted into any questionable land deals, with the promise of severe sanctions for those found guilty of corruption or malpractice.
