A 35-year-old Nigerian man, Timilehin Olatunji, has been sentenced to ten years in prison following a brutal and degrading rape of a woman at a residence in Nottingham. The sentence was handed down at Nottingham Crown Court after Olatunji pleaded guilty to three charges of rape stemming from an incident that occurred on September 29, 2024.
The victim displayed remarkable courage during the traumatic event, utilizing a mobile application to record audio of the assault. This evidence played a crucial role in the swift apprehension of Olatunji by Nottinghamshire Police shortly after the victim managed to escape and report the crime.
Detective Constable Emily Bucklow, who was involved in the investigation, described the recorded material as "especially harrowing," highlighting the profound impact of the case on law enforcement personnel. "He subjected her to a violent, degrading, and prolonged trauma," Bucklow stated. "Yet she has exhibited tremendous bravery in assisting us to secure justice."
