The Ogun State Police Command has successfully apprehended a street urchin, Abdullahi Sodiq, for possession of stolen goods during a routine patrol in the Sagamu area. The arrest took place on January 16, 2025, following a directive from the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, aimed at intensifying efforts against criminal activities in the state.

At approximately 7:30 PM, officers from the Sakura Division encountered Sodiq while he was carrying a black nylon bag. Upon inspection, police found an iPhone 12 Pro Max, travel documents, a house key, and several other personal items belonging to a woman identified as Iyabo Ogunubi. Sodiq was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation for the possession of these items.

The police statement indicated that further investigation confirmed the items were stolen from Ogunubi earlier that day. The swift action by the police underscores their commitment to maintaining public safety and addressing crime in Ogun State.

CSP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer, remarked, "This arrest is part of our ongoing operations to rid our communities of criminal elements. We urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities."
