In a historic move aimed at enhancing higher education infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Nigerian government has officially approved the establishment of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic in Abuja. The polytechnic is named after the prominent Nigerian political figure and national leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in recognition of his significant contributions to the development of the country.
The approval, announced today, signifies a major milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to expand educational opportunities for students and boost technical and vocational training across the nation. The new institution will offer a wide range of programs designed to equip young Nigerians with the necessary skills to thrive in various sectors of the economy.
As part of the approval process, the Federal Government has directed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to immediately begin proposing suitable locations for the polytechnic’s campus within Abuja. The site selection is expected to be based on accessibility, available infrastructure, and the potential for future expansion.
President of Nigeria, in a statement, emphasized the importance of this development in providing quality education and building a skilled workforce. “The establishment of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic is a strategic move towards ensuring that our youth receive the best education and training possible, which will contribute significantly to national development. We look forward to seeing the institution flourish and become a center of excellence.”
The Nigerian government has also assured that the polytechnic will adhere to the highest standards of academic quality, with a focus on practical skills, innovation, and community engagement. It is expected to attract students from all parts of the country and become a leading institution for technical and vocational studies.
