The Nigerian government, in collaboration with private investors, has announced plans to construct a state-of-the-art $2 million poultry farm in Bosso Local Government Area (LGA), Niger State. This ambitious project aims to bolster the country’s poultry production capacity, enhance food security, and provide significant employment opportunities for local communities.

The planned poultry farm will feature modern infrastructure, including advanced poultry housing systems, automated feeding and watering systems, and biosecurity measures to ensure the health and safety of the birds. Once completed, the farm will have the capacity to produce millions of eggs and poultry meat annually, meeting both local and national demand.

The project, expected to begin construction in the second quarter of 2025, will provide thousands of direct and indirect jobs, ranging from farm management to logistics, processing, and distribution. The Nigerian government anticipates the project will support the country’s agricultural development goals, especially in reducing reliance on poultry imports and improving local production.

“This poultry farm will serve as a significant step in our broader agricultural development strategy, helping to enhance self-sufficiency in food production, create jobs, and promote sustainable farming practices,” said the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. “It is a testament to the country’s growing commitment to strengthening the agricultural sector.”
