The Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned the hearing of the suit involving Dangote Refinery and the Nigerian government over the importation licences of refined petroleum products to January 30, 2025.

The case centers on Dangote Refinery’s request for the court to compel the government to issue import licences, crucial to the company’s operations in the Nigerian petroleum sector. Dangote Refinery, one of the largest single-train refineries in the world, had sought the licences to facilitate the importation of refined petroleum products.

The suit, filed earlier this year, highlights concerns over regulatory delays and potential disruptions to the operations of the refinery, which is expected to significantly impact the nation's oil and gas industry. Dangote Refinery has maintained that the issuance of these licences is necessary to ensure seamless operations and meet the country’s growing demand for refined petroleum products.

At the adjournment hearing, the judge granted both parties additional time to present their arguments, with the next session set for January 30, 2025.
