Folarin Falana, widely known as Falz, has issued a stern ultimatum to popular cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, demanding a public apology and retraction of defamatory statements made against him. The rapper's legal team has given Bobrisky a strict deadline of 12 hours to comply or face legal action.
In a letter dated October 14, 2024, and signed by attorneys from Falana and Falana's Chambers, the demand outlines the serious nature of Bobrisky's allegations. Bobrisky had previously claimed that Falz was involved in efforts to secure a presidential pardon for him in exchange for a bribe of N10 million (approximately $13,000). These claims have been vehemently denied by Falz and his family.
The letter states: "You have taken advantage of your recent imprisonment to extort money from a group of artists and other members of the public. You falsely claimed that our client’s father, Mr. Femi Falana SAN, had agreed to write a letter of pardon for you in exchange for financial compensation.”
Falz's team emphasizes that Bobrisky's assertions are baseless and damaging to their client's reputation. They accuse Bobrisky of fabricating these stories to enrich himself at the expense of others.
The letter demands that Bobrisky retract his statements and publish a formal apology on all platforms where the defamatory remarks were made.
Failure to adhere to this ultimatum will result in legal remedies being sought against Bobrisky, including claims for monetary damages.
This incident follows a series of controversies surrounding Bobrisky's recent imprisonment for currency abuse and allegations of bribery involving officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The situation has drawn significant public attention, highlighting issues of corruption within Nigeria's criminal justice system.
